QE2 Heritage Recordings
1 June 2008
Produced by Alan Hall
In June 2008, Alan and sound engineer Peregrine Andrews spent a few
days cruising on Cunard's most famous liner, the QE2 for an
Acoustiguide project. They were gathering archive material from crew -
everyone from Captain McNaught to a cabin steward - for use by the new
owners in a heritage centre in the ship's new home, Dubai. It was a
truly memorable experience.
Subsequently, BBC R4 commissioned a radio portrait of the ocean liner
which was broadcast on Sunday 23 November, to coincide with the QE2's
arrival at its resting place.
