Musical Migrants II

May 25 - 29, 2009
Produced by Rachel Hopkin

Rachel Hopkin Following on from the last series of Musical Migrants, this is a further collection of portraits of people who’ve crossed borders to be closer to a particular type of music, Maureen Sheridan who moved from Toronto to Jamaica for her love of reggae and Stella Rodriguez,, a musician of Javanese/Dutch/Portuguese/Indian heritage who found her "music and her home" in Ireland.

Each montage features explores how music was the force that led five musicians - professional and amateur, young and old, and from diverse backgrounds - to abandon former lives and cross countries, continents or oceans to start afresh in an unknown place.
