BBC World Service
Public Places, Private Lives
6 March 2009
Produced by Katie Burningham
A portrait of Trafalgar Square.
This programme explores the life of the square through the eyes of some of it's most frequent visitors, such as: Molga Salvalaggio, who visits weekly to check for injured pigeons; Stuart Wheeler, whose desk in Canada House overlooks the square; and Celeste Braithwaite, who, when homeless, used to go to the South Terrace every morning, waiting for the nearby day cenre at The Connection to open.
Behind the
tourist lens, there is much to be told about the ordinary lives of the people who
inhabit this grand public space.
This programme is the first of three in the Public Places, Private Lives series for the BBC World Service.
