BBC Radio 4
SU: The Ascent
4 October 2009
Presented by Sarah Cuddon
Produced by Alan Hall
The writer Sarah
Cuddon has always been drawn to the
mountains - in childhood, to her grandfather's house in the
Pyrenees, and as an adult to peaks in more remote and
dangerous locations - the Andes and Himalayas.
Here, she
reflects upon this fascination and how writers and climbers, from Wordsworth
to Andrew Greig, Joe Simpson to Robert
Macfarlane, have felt about the ascent.
With music
by Clogs, Baka Beyond and Anton Bruckner.
