Sarfraz Manzoor presents an authored journey that examines the
forces that have impacted upon the traditional 'working class' and seeks the
new signifiers of class in Britain.
Set in Manchester, where Sarfraz went to university, the series examines what we mean historically by 'working class', how factors that indicate class have moved towards a complex mix of economic realities and cultural preferances and what the political significance of these social, economical and cultural changes is. With contributions from Hazel Blears MP, former Hacienda DJ turned historian Dave Haslam, Salford Lads Club and residents from in and around Gorton in Manchester.
