The Strongest Girl in the World
16 September 2010
Presented by Cerys Matthews
Produced by Sarah Cuddon
Invented by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren in 1945, 'Pippi; The Strongest Girl in the World', broke the mould for female characters in children's literature. A morally and physically courageous heroine who defied the rules, Pippi kept her horse in the house and baked brownies at midnight.
In this programme, Cerys Matthews pays tribute to the creation of Pippi and to the extraordinary life of the woman who invented her.
