Our Daily Bread
21-25 May 2012 @ 1.45pm
Presented by Jonathan Kent
Produced by Alan Hall
From the
mountains of the Hindu Kush to the California coast, bread is central to our
daily lives. It’s more that just something we eat: it’s a metaphor for money,
for spirituality, for life itself. It’s a foundation stone of civilisation.
Bread is one of our simplest foods yet it’s one that, in the hands of a master,
becomes a thing of wonder. And while
most of us eat it everyday many of us take it for granted.
This series
takes the theme of bread and uses it as a gateway to explore a host of
different topics about food, culture, religion, health and community.
