'Reality Radio' Book Launch

10 February 2010

This spring sees the publication of a new book by and for radio practitioners, Reality Radio - Telling True Stories in Sound

Published by UNC Press with a launch at the Third Coast Filmless Festival on Saturday 6 March 2010 in Chicago, it features writings by "some of the most influential and innovative practitioners from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia", including Ira Glass, Sherre DeLys, Rick Moody, Chris Brookes and Falling Tree's Alan Hall.

And there's even a Reality Radio song improvised by Abraham Levitan of the band Baby Teeth during the Chicago launch!

Edited by John Biewen and Alexa Dilworth of the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, North Carolina, the book presents nineteen essays in which "documentary artists tell--and demonstrate, through stories and transcripts--how they make radio the way they do, and why."
